Transcription: Using ink pen effects we can simulate hatching to shade and fill objects. Once applied the original shape is turned into a mask and this is filled with the ink effect and then grouped together. So let's select an object and then choose the filter. The pen style dialog box may appear daunting at first, but is in fact relatively simple. Let's start by selecting a preset. We'll use angled lines gradation, and you see a preview of the pattern or hatch style in the box at the top right. Click OK and our hatch is applied.
